Our Functioning

European Civic Forum member organisations compose the general assembly, which gathers once a year to make constitutional decisions and to elect the Board of directors. It is also a place for exchanges and proposals for action about current European matters. The ECF Board of directors decides upon new memberships which submit their applications and then relays it to the general assembly. Currently, the Board is composed of 27 organisations’ representatives, stemming from 17 countries. Its missions are to implement the decisions made by the general assembly, to define network’s strategic directions and the actions or campaigns to be settled. The Steering Committee is elected by the Board of directors and is in charge of applying the Board’s decisions.

ECF Strategic Priorities for 2021-2025

Thanks to the contribution of their member organisations, ECF has defined its Strategic Priorities for 2021-2025. Looking at the challenges and opportunities in the coming years, we have set specific objectives, which reflect the members’ engagement and are build upon ECF shared vision for the Future of Europe.

The Secretariat

Alexandrina NAJMOWICZ
Secretary General

Alexandrina’s principal missions are to ensure the coordination of statutory activities and to implement the work plan adopted by the Board of directors and approved by the general assembly. She is also in charge of the network’s communication and the follow-up of institutional relations.

Vladimir SESTOVIC
Network and Membership Coordinator

After obtaining a Master degree in European Affairs at Paris III-Sorbonne Nouvelle, Vladimir joined the ECF staff in November 2012 as a volunteer and then took part in the permanent staff team. His main role within the ECF is to contribute to the network’s development, by identifying potential new organisations and ensuring the communication among the network.

Giada NEGRI
Research and Advocacy Coordinator

Giada holds a bachelor in International Studies from the University of Trento and a Master degree in Eurasian Political Economy and energy from King’s College London. She joined the European Civic Forum in December 2017. She is in charge of setting up and managing editorial content for Civic Space Watch, an online tool for monitoring civic space in Europe.

Meron MENGESHA
Administrative and Finance Officer

Meron obtained a Bachelor in Sociology and after, pursued Masters in Social Work. She is currently working with ECF as an Admin and finance officer. Before, she gathered extensive experience in the field of migration from the UN- IOM and other international organizations both in and out of field. She looks forward to gaining knowledge and experience in the domain of civic space at European Civic Forum. 

 

Benjamin GOODWIN
Communications and Campaigns Officer

Benjamin has a bachelor’s degree in Politics and East European Studies from University College London and a master’s in European and International Governance from the Free University of Brussels. He joined in September 2022 and is responsible for ECF’s communications efforts and supporting its campaigns.

Irene BELLOMO
Civic space officer

Irene has a legal and human rights background. As a Civic space trainee, she's taking care of the CIVICUS monitor updates, as well as the Civic Space Watch website and newsletter.

Partnerships

In order to achieve its goals the European Civic Forum regularly involves different partners (European civil society networks and platforms, European institutions). The European Civic Forum receives an annual operating grant from the European Commission, in the frame of the Europe for Citizens program. Besides this institutional support, the ECF also tries to include different partners on various activities organised throughout the year.
