Per Esempio in Brussels: solidarity, mobility and youth participation seen from the south
From 18 to 24 November, Per Esempio ETS, a civil society organisation based in Palermo, will be in Brussels to bring the experience of Sicily and the wider Mediterranean into the European debate. Two events at the European Parliament will present the final results of two projects co-funded by the EU through the CERV programme, followed by a networking event for European project makers.
Bridging Borders. Developing connections of solidarity within the EU
18 November, 18:00 to 20:00, European Parliament
Hosted by MEP Cecilia Strada (S&D), the event closes Bridging Borders, a 24-month campaign that engaged young people aged 16 to 30 in ten EU countries, with a special focus on the inclusion of young people with a migrant background. At its heart is the screening of “Article 13”, the documentary produced by the project on the right to mobility as a cornerstone of European citizenship, followed by a round table with EU institutions and civil society organisations. The event will be held in English.
URRA KIDS. Empowering young people to lead civic engagement for sustainable communities
19 November, 15:00 to 18:00, European Parliament, room Spinelli 1E2
Hosted by MEPs Leoluca Orlando, Melissa Camara and Jaume Asens (Greens/EFA), the event presents the results of URRA KIDS. The project involved young people aged 13 to 17 from vulnerable contexts and with migration backgrounds in green and inclusive urban regeneration in Palermo, Naples, Barcelona and Dublin. Young participants, partners, EU institutions and national authorities for children’s rights will discuss the EU policy recommendations developed by the project. Interpretation in English, Italian and Spanish will be provided.

Ignitor Hub 2026
23 and 24 November, Comet Meetings, Brussels
Per Esempio is also one of the co-organisers of the 11th edition of Ignitor Hub, together with EProjectConsult, Promimpresa Società Benefit, PRISM and CEIPES. After ten years of ideas and collaborations across Europe, the network meets again around a simple format: each participant brings two project ideas, one for each day, to share and develop with others. Per Esempio joins the Mediterranean District of Social Innovation, with Muhammad Yunus
On 16 July 2026 in Naples, Per Esempio ETS signed the Statement of Intent for the development of the Mediterranean District of Social Innovation. The initiative links urban and social regeneration in three cities of southern Italy: Naples, Palermo and Potenza.
Per Esempio promotes the District together with FOQUS Fondazione Quartieri Spagnoli (Naples), Consorzio Genera 3zero network and Fondazione Città della Pace per i Bambini (Potenza). Working with local communities and social organisations, the District combines education, new forms of welfare, culture, care and the creation of new businesses and jobs. The business creation strand will be developed together with the Yunus Centre and will follow the social business principles of Nobel Peace Prize laureate Muhammad Yunus: social purpose before profit, reinvesting to maximise impact, respect for human dignity at work and environmental responsibility.
The statement was signed during Professor Yunus’s visit to Naples. The other signatories were the Mayors of Naples and Potenza, the Archdiocese of Naples, the Yunus Centre and the promoting organisations. They commit to building cooperation between public institutions, universities, civil society, philanthropy and responsible businesses, including with other cities in the Yunus Centre network around the world. They will also look for joint initiatives with measurable social impact.
For Per Esempio, the District connects the everyday work in Palermo’s neighbourhoods with a wider Mediterranean platform. In this platform the south is not the edge of Europe but a place to try out new models of inclusive development.
