Resources for CSOs

Interesting readings on the topic:

  • Remote Biometric Identification and its impact on freedom of assembly (led by EDRi and Access Now), analysis here
  • Rights and redress mechanisms for people affected by AI (ECNL and EDRi lead), analysis here
  • Standards and standardisation processes, and the inclusion of civil society in this, analysis here
  • Governance and civil society inclusion – nobody is really leading on this, it’s an area that would need more work. I don’t really have reading to suggest besides some Euractive articles mentioning this (here, here2, whatever leading MEP Tudorache says is about this)
  • Privacy Camp 25th January: it is an annual conference organised by EDRi, which brings together digital rights advocates, activists as well as academics and policy-makers from all around Europe and beyond to discuss the most pressing issues facing human rights online. This year’s topic is Critical.Digital.Crisis. I think it will be a good opportunity for your colleague to start getting acquainted with the topics and get to know some of the civil society working on the topic. Registration here by 18th January.  – PASSED
  • RightsCon, 5-8 June. Organised by Access Now, RightsCon is the world’s leading summit on human rights in the digital age. It will take place in Costa Rica but some events will take place remotely.
