The Human Rights Cities Network (HRCN) & the Global Parliament of Mayors (GPM) will hold this event as part of Barcelona’s programme1st European Capital of Democracy (ECoD). This HUMAN RIGHTS CITIES WEBINAR will highlight the key role municipalities play in ensuring greater transparency, equality, accountability, and integrity in the local and regional electoral processes.

The webinar will bring different perspectives on how to ensure the right to vote of the citizens at local level, focusing on the forthcoming 2024 European Parliament elections. This event will raise awareness on how local authorities can guarantee the right to vote of citizen’s and a democratic participation to the 2024 European Parliament Elections.

Experts’ panelists will debate on the challenges and the opportunities of implementing the right to vote at the local level, in respect of human rights standards. The session will underline how cities’ human rights practices are essential to advance democratic and inclusive participation in regional and local elections.

The HRCN is collecting cities’ good practices and will issue a policy paper with concrete recommendations, after the webinar. Please share any relevant good practices to this topic to the following email address hrcn@humanrightscities.net.
