The Lampedusa Manifesto is the outcome of a European gathering held in June 2025 as part of the Ways of Europe project. This text outlines a vision for a fairer, more democratic, and freer Europe, drawing on the voices of young people at the heart of Europe’s challenges. Discover it in this article!
The Ways of Europe project is a transnational initiative funded by the CERV program (Citizens, Equality, Rights and Values) of the European Commission. The project’s aim is to promote solidarity, civic participation, and human rights within the European Union.
Led by Arci Solidarietà, our Italian partner along with other international partners, including La Ligue de l’enseignement, Ways of Europe seeks to organise meetings across different European cities. These gatherings highlight crucial themes such as inclusion, the rule of law, and minority rights, using the “Dialogues from the future” method. This approach serves as a concrete tool to advance a shared vision of European solidarity that incorporates climate, social, and intergenerational justice.
In the manifesto, Lampedusa is reaffirmed as a key political centre of the European project, both a place of welcome and of struggle, embodying the continent’s tensions and hopes. Born from collective reflection with local stakeholders, the text advocates for a more inclusive Europe built on shared responsibility and cooperation between local authorities and civil society. The next stage of the Ways of Europe project will be organised by La Ligue de l’enseignement in Dunkirk and Calais on the 29th and 30th September 2025, continuing the dynamic of exchange and engagement for a fairer and more humane Europe.
