Announced as a key element of the EU Civil Society Strategy, the platform will bring together up to 30 independent civil society organisations (CSOs) across EU member states and candidate countries for a three-year mandate. It creates a permanent, structured framework to reinforce dialogue with the Commission on fundamental rights, democracy, equality, and the rule of law.
Commenting on the decision, ECF Secretary General Natacha Kazatchkine said:
“We are pleased that our application to join the Civil Society Platform has been successful.
“We are looking forward to engaging closely with the Commission to ensure that this platform is a success and that it can deliver genuine, structured, and open dialogue between the institutions and civil society.”
