A CHANCE FOR EUROPE – The CHANCE Network launches its political manifesto against organised crime and corruption in Europe

29 November 2023 | Members' Corner

A Chance for Europe: 5 points and 12 proposals compose the political Manifesto authored by the civil society associations gathered in the network CHANCE – Civil Hub Against orgaNised Crime in Europe, that will be presented at the European Parliament on the 7th of December 2023, from 10:30 to 13:30, in an event hosted by S&D MEPs Franco Roberti and Brando Benifei and coordinated by Libera. Associazioni, nomi e numeri contro le mafie.

The event will be an opportunity to launch a debate on five key issues to combat organised crime, that it is fundamental to place at the top of the European political agenda ahead of the European Parliament elections.

Two thematic sessions will be held during the event, one on access to justice and protection for victims of organised crime and human trafficking, the other on corruption, ecomafias and environmental crimes.

Several speakers, MEPs and representatives of civil society will discuss these issues based on their expertise and their perspective. At the close of the proceedings, Roberta Metsola, President of the European Parliament, and Luigi Ciotti, President of Libera against mafias, will offer their remarks.

The initiative takes place as part of the European Commission-funded project EU Youth in Action, for which the CHANCE associations have held 13 awareness-raising and advocacy roundtables in as many European cities over the course of the year.  The roundtables have allowed for the creation and consolidation of spaces for dialogue between civil society organisations and institutions, both at local and national levels, on the five issues that will be brought to the attention of European institutions on the upcoming 7th of December.

“A Chance for Europe” will be held from 10:30 to 13:30 at the Spinelli Building of the European Parliament, in room 2g3.
