On September 11–12, 2023, an international conference “Partnerships for Democracy, Development and Peace” was held in Riga, in the framework of the Latvian Presidency of the Council of Europe. The conference focused on strengthening cooperation between civil society and decision-makers, discussing the challenges of democracy, development and peace and their interlinkages.
Topics discussed included the impact of artificial intelligence on democracy, international, national and local partnerships between citizens and the state, good governance practices and civic activism. The conference was held in two parts in a panel discussion format, with a side event on September 11 and the main conference programme on September 12. The conference report can be found here.
The conference was organised by the Civic Alliance – Latvia in cooperation with the Latvian Platform for Development Cooperation, the State Chancellery, the Saeima and the Active Citizens Fund, in the framework of the Latvian Presidency of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe.
