La Ligue de L’Enseignement: Say Photography competition in France

26 May 2025 | Members' Corner

Last April, within the framework of the European project SAY – Solidarity is About Youth– a photography competition was organised for students aged 12 and above. This competition allowed for students to express themselves by portraying the values enshrined in this project which are solidaritysocial cohesioninvolvement through various photographs they took.

In France, three different institutions took part in this competition, including younger students aged 10 to 11. Three photographs particularly stood out due to the messages they carried with themselves and were reviewed by a jury made of students from a a partner country – Italy, by Arci organisation- also involved in the competition.

And the winners are… the youngest competitors of all who are primary school students from Biollay School in Chambery.

Here’s the winning photograph, entitled “L’envol”, which translates to “The flight” or “The wing” in English. This choice of words is particularly significant to them as they explain :

“Together, we’re stronger. No matter who we are or where we come from, if we stick together and unite, the world will be a better place. We always need someone to move forwards, as we like to say : our differences make us stronger, we’ll fly the nest and never give up”.

Our warms rewards go to all the participants and winners : Tayron, Badis, Ethan, Aya, Messone, Keira, Nour, Layna, Sami, Diya, Adil, Fatima, Leila, Sheyenne, Lucie, Eliyas, Souleymane, Maydine, Antoine, Elias, Enesa, Betul, Assile, Manissa, Lynda, Assia et Safiya.

Thank again to them for taking part in the competition and delivering this strong message !”
